Musical return for singing superstar

A WARWICK high school is getting ready to welcome an ex-pupil for a musical recital.

Descending on King’s High School in Smith Street will be former pupil and renowned mezzo soprano Gaynor Keeble, along with two of her pupils.

After leaving the school Ms Keeble went on to study at Warwick University and the Royal Academy of Music.

Upon leaving she joined the Welsh National Opera where she performed and covered many roles including the title role in Carmen.

She was then awarded a Countess of Munster Award and in December 2001 was the winner of the London Lieder Prize.

Joining her will be Amy Cate Walsh and Phoebe Jeanes, who have only just joined the ranks of the school’s alumnae, along with Colin Druce on piano.

Amy and Phoebe have been pupil’s of Gaynor’s for over a decade and have found her to be an inspiring coach.

Amy said: “Our lessons with Gaynor have been filled with fun, laughter and, on occasion, tears.

“Gaynor taught us not only the art of singing, but also invaluable performance skills and the rule that you never disagree with your singing teacher!”
