Joys of radio brought to a Stratford stage

FUN, comedy and clever antics will arrive at Stratford civic hall for one night as quirky theatre company Oddsocks bring their latest production to the stage, writes Hana Evans.

R.o.g.e.r Radio Presents The Mighty Beast! will be staged at the venue, as part of this year’s Stratford Literary Festival, on Wednesday.

Written by husband and wife directors, Andy Barrow and Elli Mackenzie, the play - a spoof comedy radio play performed on stage to a live audience - aims to capture the golden age of radio.

Familiar Oddsock members including Rebecca Jenkins and Kevin Kemp will transport the audience to the mysterious Spoon Island in search of the Mighty Beast.

The cast’s comic attempts to portray a multitude of characters each whilst creating realistic sound effects using a collection of bizarre props and a couple of microphones is the basis for a crazy evening of unique entertainment.

Tickets priced at £12 and £14 with a £1 discount for concessions are available from the civic hall on 01789 207100 or online at www.civichall.co.uk under the Stratford upon Avon Literary Festival 2012 section.
