Henschel Quartet open Leamington Music’s winter season

LEAMINGTON Music’s series of winter concerts will open with a performance of German classical music by the Henschel String Quartet,

The Munich-based ensemble will also be launching a series of monthly concerts by international quartets at the Pump Room on Friday (October 5) when they perform Haydn’s Quartet Opus 33 No 3 ‘The Bird’ and Beethoven’s Quartets Opus 18 No 6 and Opus 59 No 2.

Festival director Richard Phillips said: “The new season should get off to a great start with this leading German quartet. They bring a programme of works written over a span of just 25 years, 1781 to 1806. This takes us back to the early years of the string quartet at the height of the classical music period.”

Tickets are on sale at the Bridge House Theatre box office on 776438, at Leamington tourist information centre or online.
