Folk duo at Rugby Roots

LAP-tapping guitar, fiddle and vocal harmonies will be coming to Rugby later this month courtesty of folk duo Gilmore and Roberts.

The pair, who have supported folk-rock pioneers Fairport Convention, will be performing songs from their their album The Innocent Left at Lawrence Sheriff School on Saturday September 29.

Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts met while studying at Leeds College of Music and began working together in 2006, releasing their first full-length album Shadows & Half Light two years later. They were nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award in 2010 and won the ‘Best Original Song’ Hancock Award for ‘Fleetwood Fair’.

Since then, Gilmore has worked with indie folk band Tiny Tin Lady, singer Rosie Doonan and The Albion Band, and Roberts with young English traditionalists Kerfuffle.

They will be supported by the winner of Shrewsbury Folk Festival’s open mic competition 2011, young traditional singer Rosie Hood.
