Fifty years of youth orchestra celebrated in Warwick

WARWICK will host a concert by the City of Coventry Youth Orchestra tomorrow (Sunday) to mark a very special occasion.

The orchestra is in its 50th anniversary season and to celebrate it they have announced a performance at the Guy Nelson Hall in Warwick School, Myton Road.

The programme will include Schubert’s Overture Rosamunde, the Horn Concerto of Franz Strauss and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 5 Reformation.

Conducting will be Brian Chappell, and the horn soloist is Mike Arnold, a fourth year student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He also plays with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, the University of London Symphony Orchestra and the Guildhall Ubu Ensemble.

The concert starts at 3pm, with tickets costing £8 and £5 for concessions on the door.

The orchestra is looking for new members, with rehearsals held every Friday night.
