Experience the essence of global couture in Leamington

THE latest designs by Jean-Paul Gaultier, Valentino and Christophe Josse will be revealed at a Leamington cinema next week in an exclusive 3D screening.

The Apollo in Portland Place is among only six venues across the country to show the world’s first 3D fashion show, Catwalk 3D, which will also include the work of Georges Hobeika and Stéphane Rolland.

Previously only seen by the fashion elite, moviegoers will get an up-close and personal view of the autumn 2010 and winter 2011 collections from Haute Couture Fashion Week.

Maria Costeira, chief executive of XPAND 3D, the company which along with digital cinema service XDC has produced the film, said: “With Catwalk 3D, XPAND has elevated the art and beauty of fashion to a new level of excellence.

“Releasing the film to cinemas across Europe will allow everyone, not just the fashion elite, to appreciate and experience the very essence of couture. We are thrilled to be able to bring high fashion and our leading 3D technology together.”

Fabrice Testa, vice president of content and network services at XDC, said: “Fashion is very attractive and can be associated with clothing retailers to make the inside the lobby of the cinema an amazing display just before the screening. It’s just the beginning of a new way for exhibitors to do cinema, and for the audience to experience cinema.”

Catwalk 3D is showing at the Apollo on Monday at 8pm and is rated 12A. There will be mini fashion and jewellery fair, featuring items from Leamington businesses, in the bar and foyer of the cinema from 7pm. The first 50 ticket-holders will be presented with complimentary Clarins goodie bags from the town’s House of Fraser branch.
