Choir will make sublime debut at Warwick church

Critically acclaimed choir and orchestral and education charity Armonico Consort will perform the programme Naked Byrd in their first ever performance at St Mark’s Church in Leamington tomorrow (Saturday).

The concert will feature material from the consort’s recordings Naked Byrd and Naked Byrd 2, which have had five-star ratings in The Independent and are some of the most played music on Classic FM and BBC Radio 3.

The programme includes some of the most sublime choral music ever written, including Barber’s Agnus Dei, Allegri’s Miserere Mei, Byrd’s Ave Verum and Carissimi’s Plorathe interwoven by the chants of Hildegarde of Bingen.

Christopher Monks, director of Armonico Consort, hopes that the performance will provide the opportunity for many local people to experience their work for the first time, said: “As a music charity who provides first class education to 30,000 children each year nationwide, we are passionate about bringing world-class musical experiences, performed by internationally acclaimed musicians to young people, children and new audiences.

“That is why we offer free tickets to under-sixteens for all of our local performances when accompanied by an adult.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available by calling 0844 388 0338 or visiting www.armonico.org.uk
