Bridgeman the centre of charity talk

Midland sculptor John Bridgeman, whose work is at the centre of Leamington’s Pump Room gallery’s current exhibition, will be the focus of an Art Fund talk tomorrow (Thursday).

The sculptor’s daughter, Dr Jane Bridgeman, and her husband, Professor MA Michael, academic director of Christie’s Education, will reveal more about the man and his sometimes dramatic work, at the event, which takes place at the gallery at 5.30pm.

Bridgeman, who lived in and near Leamington for around 40 years, was head of sculpture at Birmingham School of Art for much of that time.

He had turned down the chance to work alongside the greatly respected Henry Moore to instead pursue his career independently.

The talk is open to the public, with tickets costing £13. Call 01564 773825.
