‘Big honour’ as Coventry’s Shkayla picked for Irish folk CD

Coventry rock band Shkayla have impressed industry professionals so much that they been included on a compilation CD, The Ultimate Guide to Irish Folk, released by world music recording label ARC Music.

Joe O’Donnell’s Shkayla, a five-piece Celtic-fusion rock band, feature on the CD alongside artists such as Sinead O’Connor, The Dubliners and Horslips.

Band member Adrian Litvinoff said: “This is a really big honour for us because some of the other people on it are top names.

“You could also say it’s long overdue, when you see some of the people Joe has worked with over nearly 40 years.”

Joe O’Donnell, who has lived in Coventry since 1999, is a veteran violinist and was part of popular band East of Eden between 1967 and 1978.

Shkayla are performing at Warwick Arts Centre tomorrow (Sunday April 27) at 7.30pm.
