Panto season still on in Coventry

PANTOMIME fans have one chance left to see the Wheatsheaf Players’ annual offering Abanazar’s Revenge.

Abanazar’s Revenge, being staged at the Co-operative Theatre in Wyken, Coventry, feature’s pantomime characters such as Aladdin, Dick Whittington and his cat,  Snow White, Beauty, Widow Twanky, Wishee Washee, the Good Fairy, the Genie and of course the wicked Abanazar who is determined to get his revenge on Aladdin, with the help of the evil Queen from Snow White. 

Heather Evans, artistic director for the Wheatsheaf Players, said: “It is a fantastic pantomime and has everything you would expect - a classic tale of good beating evil with plenty of fun and jokes with the opportunity for the audience to join in.”

The Wheatsheaf Players are an amateur group who meet every Wednesday at the theatre in Watersmeet Road.

The group perform six productions each year and a youth group production.

In 2010 the Wheatsheaf Players won the Godiva award for Best Theatre in Coventry and Warwickshire, in the same year they also celebrated 80 years as a company and 30 years in their current theatre.

The final performances take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm and 7pm.
