An Aston Martin driver from near Rugby escaped a fine because the speedometer on his classic car was faulty.
Northamptonshire Police enforcement cameras clocked Neil Armstrong, 54, driving his Aston Martin DB2/4 at 46mph on a 40mph stretch of the A45 near Daventry in March 2020.

Hide AdMr Armstrong, from Willoughby near Rugby, admitted the offence but Northampton magistrates gave him an absolute discharge after accepting evidence that the vehicle’s speedo was not working correctly, making the driver unaware he was speeding.
The Aston Martin DB2/4 is a grand tourer produced by the world famous firm between 1953 and 1957.
