Jess Glynne performs one off concert in Coventry

Chart-topping Jess Glynne has announced a one-off special concert at the Ricoh Arena next month.

The singer behind chart favourites such as Rather Be, Not Letting Go, and My Love will perform a warm-up gig in the Jaguar Hall on Friday, April 29, ahead of her upcoming UK tour, with only 3,500 tickets being made available.

The Grammy-winning singer experienced a meteoric rise to fame in 2014 after collaborations with dance producers Clean Bandit on Rather Be and Route 94, for My Love – which both crashed the charts to reach number one.

The success saw her go on to break records to become the second British female singer, after Cheryl Cole, to have five number one singles in the UK, following releases Hold My Hand and Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself, and featuring on fellow London-born rapper Tinie Tempah’s Not Letting Go.

David Armstrong, group chief executive of Wasps which owns the Ricoh Arena, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Jess Glynne to Coventry for what will be her biggest performance in the city yet.

“In just 18 months, the superstar has achieved spectacular success to become the second British female artist to achieve five number one singles in the UK charts.

“Jess’ powerful and versatile voice has seen her release music within a range of genres including pop, dance and RnB which has attracted a huge fan base so we’re confident her Coventry concert will be a popular event.

“Once again this underlines our long-term strategy of bringing some of the UK’s top performers to the region to appear at the Ricoh Arena. With Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna, MTV Crashes and Mela Coventry all booked to take place it is going to be a fantastic year of live performances in Coventry.”

Andy Gibb, managing director of the Ricoh Arena, said: “Jess Glynne is one of the most exciting performers to break into the charts in recent years and this is proved by the fact she has collaborated with so many diverse artists including Gorgon City, Tinie Tempah, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora and Rudimental.

“With her iconic anthems so popular at the moment, we are delighted to host the singer for what we are confident will be an ideal and popular warm-up performance ahead of her major UK tour this summer.”

Jess Glynne has been booked in association with prestigious events company tinyCOW. Lee O’Hanlon and Ben Hathaway from tinyCOW have worked with Jess previously and are looking forward to working with the Ricoh Arena.
