Cleary’s Gym heavyweight Lewis Williams cruised into the final of the CYP Championships with victory over Perth Green ABC fighter Steve Burr.

Williams showed no signs of fatigue despite having left Leamington at 6am for the 10am weigh-in in Bridlington and then enduring an eight-hour wait before taking to the ring in the 16th bout of the day.

Williams, 16, who was three years younger than Burr, towered over his opponent, using his power, reach and jab to gain a comfortable points success.

“He’s got loads more gears,” said coach Edwin Cleary. “He’s got a massive, massive future.”

Williams is back in action in the final tonight and will be fighting again on Saturday on the Cleary’s show at the Assembly.

Doors open at 4pm with boxing starting at 5pm.
