Cornwall Segway Polo Club were joined by Hemer Butterflies from Germany, but it is Warwick Lions who lead the International League after taking their record to three wins from three.

The objective of the league is not only to give Warwick Segway Polo Club (WSPC) teams an opportunity to play under competitive conditions, but to provide visiting squads with a combination of exciting games and an overview of the town’s tourist attractions.

According to Warwick Knights captain April Weller, playing the technically advanced game of segway polo against the backdrop of a classic medieval town is an attractive and very marketable contrast.

She said: “This was the first visit to Warwick for German team Hemer Butterflies and having looked forward to seeing one of the town’s primary attractions, Warwick Castle, for many months, they were completely enchanted by their very special guided tour of the medieval site.”

Club chairman Steve Chidlow said the growth of WSPC has been beyond their expectations but added that they are not ready to rest on their laurels just yet.

“This weekend displayed just how far Warwick Segway Polo Club has come in the three months since it’s creation, with the league well under way now and teams clearly developing their skill sets,” said Chidlow who plays for Warwick Bears.

“ The future is looking very exciting.
