Kenilworth slumped from 39 from one to 99 all out inside 35 overs, with only openers Phil Edmonds (20) and Dave Edmunds (16) and Mike Watts (10) reaching double figures.

Seven batsman were clean bowled against an accurate Standard attack that saw seamer Steve Vaughan pick up four for 28 from 12 overs and spinner O’Hara rip through the tail to pick up three for three.

Standard eased to victory thanks to an unbeaten 40 from Andy Jones, reaching 104 for four in 28.3 overs.

R Jones added 25 and Vaughan 14 as Tom Pope returned figures of two for 30.

Joe Boyle (1-14) and Edmonds (1-21) picked up the only other wickets to fall.

The only bright spot for the club was the unveiling of the new club and kit sponsors Conxserv, with Kenilworth now wearing their company’s logo on their shirts.

Rain had the final say when Kenilworth’s Sunday XI played host to neighbours Leek Wootton in a 35-overs-a-side friendly.

After a delayed start due to persistent rain, Leek Wootton were asked to bat first and lost an early wicket before opener Tim Dart and Dave Allison put on 49 for the second wicket.

A steady fall of wickets and a further rain shower reduced the game to 30 overs per side and the visitors finished on 133 for six.

The wickets were shared between skipper Sam Leach (1-14), Ali Peebles (1-15), youngsters Ryan Bull (1-28) and Martin McKenna (1-28) and debutant Phil Bradshaw (1-26).

Kenilworth’s reply got off to a dreadful start as they slipped to 12 for three and then 32 for five.

Number three Chris Prophet held the innings together, scoring a fine unbeaten 63 not (6x4, 2x6) and together with wicketkeeper-batsman Dan Horner (18) put on 72 for the sixth wicket.

However, further rain forced the players off and play was abandoned in the 22nd over with Kenilworth on 114 for six.

Swaz (2-6) and Mungary (2-25) were the pick of the visitors’ attack.
