Hollywood actor, Tom Hardy, will be reading six ‘Bedtime Stories’ for BBC Children’s channel CBeebies, after making an appearance a few years ago.

Now back by popular demand, the Peaky Blinders actor will be reading six more Bedtime Stories as part of the long-running children’s TV segment.

Here’s everything you need to know.

When will the programmes air?

The actor, who has appeared in films such as Inception and Venom, and TV hits including Peaky Blinders and Taboo, will read one story a night over the course of a week.

Will he be joined by anyone?

Hardy will be joined by his French bulldog, Blue.

Where were the stories filmed?

The stories were filmed safely in Hardy’s garden, following all social distancing guidance.

Why were they filmed?

The stories have been chosen to help children at this confusing time during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

He will introduce the first book, named Hug Me, with a personal message, which will read,“Hello. I’m Tom. Sometimes, on a day like this, I feel strong and happy. But on other days, I just need somebody to give me a hug. Tonight’s bedtime story is all about a little cactus called Felipe, who just wants a hug too.”

The story follows Felipe, who goes on a mission to find a hug, but as Tom will explain during the episode, “So, in the end Felipe found someone to hug. It’s not always possible to hug the ones that you love. But they’re always there, in your heart.”

Why is Tom Hardy returning to Bedtime Stories?

The BBC explained that when Hardy appeared on Bedtime Stories in 2016, he received more than 1million requests on BBC iPlayer.

Previous celebrity readers on Bedtime Stories include Stephen Graham, Friends star David Schwimmer, Rosamund Pike, Robbie Williams, Jodie Whittaker, Anne-Marie Duff, Ewan McGregor and George Ezra.

"It’s during challenging times like this that the BBC serves its purpose to entertain the whole of the UK and these new stories are guaranteed to do just that with their themes of long distance friendship, sharing problems and true courage in overcoming seemingly impossible challenges."

What date does it start?

The first five readings of Bedtime Stories will air the week beginning 27 April, while a sixth story will air later in the year.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories is on TV each weekday at 6.50pm on the CBeebies channel. It’s also available on BBC iPlayer.
