I was recently saddened to see the last of the street side trees in Abbey Field’s car park removed. Our town’s trees are important for aesthetic and environmental reasons and planting of new trees is crucial.
I put this to the relevant department of the council, also mentioning the generous re-planting in Northumberland Road, Leamington. I was told that residents had funded some of the planting and that Leamington Town Council has put £6,000 aside for street trees. No such benefit exists in Kenilworth.
Could we hope for a greater priority in this matter? Surely there is enough good will to generate some local funding to ensure the future look of our historic town.
