The opening will take place at the end of June but the company, which specialises in selling homewares and household goods, has declined to comment further until nearer the time of the opening.

Much change has taken place at the Royal Priors in recent weeks and months to make way for the new store.

Hawkin’s Bazaar closed its branch while Game, Animal, Walnut & Weave and the independent music and film store Head have all relocated to other units at the shopping centre.

Superdry also moved from Satchwhell Court to the unit previously used by HMV in the Upper Mall in November.

The Wilko product range concentrates on household essentials, including homewares, textiles, DIY, cleaning products, health and beauty lines, stationery, confectionery, pet products and kitchen and bathroom goods.

A large proportion of the range is made up of own-label products sold under the Wilko brand, although like other retailers Wilko has started to use private label brands.

When Wilko, formerly known as Wilkinson, opened its branch in Kenilworth in 2011 it was hailed as a way of ‘breathing new life, into the town.
