Warnings out after Kenilworth bike thefts

Police have issued warnings after thefts of two motorbikes and five bicycles from across Kenilworth in one week.

During the night of the July 25, a black “SYM” 61 REG motorcycle was stolen from outside a house in Albion Street.

Just three days earlier, on July 22, a silver motorbike was stolen from St John’s Street.

The Honda Varadero 125 XL bike (60 reg) was taken from the back of the house sometime overnight.

Craig Ricardo from Kenilworth community safety team, has also warned of bicycle thefts amid warnings for property to be securely locked overnight.

He said: “Beware of bike theft in Kenilworth. Secure your cycles and do not leave out. Five cycles have been stolen recently.”

Crown Watch, an online community watch scheme, is extending the warnings to vehicles which are often left unlocked through the night.

A statement read: “Despite countless warnings some residents in Kenilworth continue to leave vehicles unlocked and valuables within them.”
