A proposal to build a puffin crossing in Birches Lane was supported by members of Kenilworth Town Council during their last meeting.

The proposal was funded by the delegated area budgets of Warwickshire county councillors Dave Shilton and Alan Cockburn after hearing residents’ concerns on the lane’s safety.

Cllr Shilton (Con, Park Hill), said: “We’re very pleased and honoured to be part of this. I believe the neighbours want this action to be taken as soon as possible.

“There have been incidents on that road where children have been very lucky to escape uninjured.

“The crossing will particularly benefit the schools in the area, and I welcome it.”

Should the proposals go ahead, the crossing will be built between 39 and 41 in Birches Lane and the nearby bus stop will be moved to the west of Thickthorn Close.
