Crowds went to the town’s racecourse for the event, which was organised by the Warwick Lions and Rotary Clubs.

The organisers had to delay the start of the event due to the large amount of people queuing to get in.

David Shore, chairman of the bonfire committee, said: “We are delighted that Warwick townspeople turned out for their regular show, and are most grateful for their support. It was a really great night.”

Warwick Mayor Christine Cross said: “It was a fantastic evening with more than 6,000 attending. The crowd appeared to be enjoying the event. Sadly, the Guy made by some of the children at Newburgh School was quickly engulfed by the flames from the bonfire, but that’s history for you. All in all, a very successful event and even the weather was kind to us.”

The bonfire committee would like to thank Warwick Racecourse, Warringtons, Baxi Heating, Bovis Homes, Unipart, Leycester House Care Home, The Tuckery, and Hilton Hotel for their support.

They would also like to thank the local retailers who helped to sell tickets for the event.
