Actors are wanted to get in character and head to the stage for two productions in the town over the summer.

The Priory Theatre is holding open auditions for its upcoming productions of The Importance of Being Earnest and A Chorus of Disapproval.

Directors are hoping to attract talent on and offstage.

Artistic director Mark Jefferies said: “Both plays have large and varied casts and we are certain that they will be popular with our audiences.”

He said there has already been considerable interest with the first audition day attracting 15 keen actors.

“We have quite a large cast and so need people,” he said.

“For the lead parts we obviously need some experience on stage, but for smaller roles it is not always necessary. We just want to get people along and go from there.”

The theatre holds open auditions for its seven shows each year.

Auditions for Oscar Wilde’s classic show will be held at the Rosemary Hill theatre on Sunday (April 26). For A Chorus of Disapproval, potential actors will be seen on May 24 and 31.
