Children’s favourite and best loved characters will come to life to adorn gardens across the town in Kenilworth’s latest fundraising scarecrow trail.
Thorns infant school pupils have been getting creative on the theme of book characters for this summer’s display - which includes a lager than life Gruffalo in the playground to get things started.
Organised by the PTA each year, the round up will this time feature over 30 scarecrows in front gardens along the busy trail.
As well as the children’s favourite Gruffalo, the display includes appearances from Paddington, Mr Stink and Goldilocks with families urged to get out and vote for their favourites.
Joint chair of the parent and teachers’ association, Emma Stark, said with all funds going to fund new school equipment, they hope the colourful characters will pull in wide reaching support.
“We are really looking forward to this year’s scarecrow trail as it was such a success last year,” she said.
“It is one of Thorn’s most exciting annual events which really brings the community and families together.
“This is what Kenilworth is all about- working together to create a fun, friendly event for the children of our town.”
All money raised will help to replace the school’s interactive whiteboards.
The trail includes clues and games to solve along the way, and everyone can vote for their favourite entry to be displayed at the summer fete.
Maps for a £1 donation are now on sale at Brian Holt, Tree House Bookshop,Simply Fresh, Leyes Lane Pharmacy, Windy Arbour News and Kenilworth Books.
Scarecrows will stay up until June 14. They will return for a winner to be announced at the Summer Fair on Saturday 20th June.
