The carnival, taking place in Leamington town centre on Saturday July 9, will have a gaming and technology theme to celebrate the town’s ‘Silicon Spa’ heritage. It will feature more floats than in previous events and all stalls for the festival taking place as part of the day have been sold.

Former contestant on The Apprentice, businesswoman and experienced event organiser Jo Cameron, is part of the carnival committee.

She said: “I’m really pleased that we are all on track for a great community event that helps raise money for lots of local charities.

“We now have more sponsors on board and we are really grateful to local businesses and sponsors for helping us put on the event.

“BID Leamington has also been a huge support too.”

The businesses, clubs, groups and organisations with floats at the carnival will be Leamington Football Club, Push Projects, Sainsbury’s Wellesbourne, Art in the Park, McDonald’s, Age UK, Co-operative Childcare, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, Kids Run Free (sponsored by Warwick Sasco), Montessori Nursery and Worsley.

Event sponsor Squab, which is also sponsoring the Air Ambulance Float, has said: “The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) has been Squab’s nominated charity since 2015.

“We’ve taken part in various fundraising activities since then, including hosting Christmas Jumper Day, team dragon boat racing as well as various other internal events, including a Family Fun Day.

“The Air Ambulance is on call 365 days a year and rely on charitable donations in order to continue their lifesaving missions which impact the lives of so many.

“It really is a no-brainer as to why we are sponsoring this float – we are proud to have such an inspiring local charity and are pleased to continue to support them into 2016.”

The carnival was resurrected in 2014 having not been held in Leamington since 1996.

It was a big success but the former carnival committee was not able to assemble a large enough team of volunteers to repeat this success and no event was held last year.
