Another potential Post Office move is on the cards as plans emerge to relocate the High Street service into a nearby newsagents.
Fieldgate Post Office in High Street is undergoing public consultation over possible relocation around the corner into Kenilworth News in Bridge Street.
The proposed move is part of “branch modernisation” and if it goes ahead, would see all services run from the newsagents.
The move could see a loss of some services which would be offered from a dedicated counter within the shop.
A statement from the Post Office Ltd read: “The change is part of a major programme of modernisation taking place across the Post Office network, the largest in the history of Post Office Ltd.
“The programme is underpinned by Government investment and will see up to 8,000 branches modernised and additional investment in over 3,000 community and outreach branches.”
Questions being asked in the consultation include how suitable the new premises is, ease of access for users, community issues which need to be taken into consideration, and general feedback on the proposals.
The change would be implemented in July or August this year if it goes ahead following the consultation.
It is not yet known how the change will affect opening hours, or services within the newsagents opening times.
The questionnaire can be completed online at Post Office using the code 38224699.
All responses must be in by May 27 before a decision is made over the future of the branch.
