Police appeal after attempted robbery in Warwick

A man is wanted by police after attempts were made to rob a pensioner as she withdrew cash in Warwick town centre.

The 61-year-old woman was using the cash machine outside Lloyds Bank in Swan Street last week when she was approached from behind by a man who pushed her and tried to grab her money.

The theft attempt failed and the woman was able to cancel her transaction.

The suspect, described by police as an Asian man in his mid-30s, then ran off along Swan Street towards the museum in the town centre.

The incident took place at midday on Thursday, February 25.

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said the woman was not harmed during the incident, and anyone with information is urged to come forward to help catch the man responsible.

The suspect is described as being of a medium build and 5ft 6ins in height. He was wearing a bright blue coat, beanie hat and sunglasses at the time of the attempted theft.
