The tree planting was a celebration of the many acts of kindness that residents and key workers have bestowed upon each other over a very challenging year, from making a shopping delivery for someone shielding, displaying a rainbow in a window in support of care workers or just staying in to protect the NHS.

Key workers planting the trees included nurses, police officers, care workers, Henry VIII Charity, St Edith’s House, The Gap Community Centre, who were joined by pupils and adults from Emscote Infant School and All Saints’ C of E Junior School and Bishop David Evans. Cllr Jody Tracey, said: "This has been a fantastic community project for the children to be involved in not only helping us in our efforts as an Eco school, but also allowing the children to be part of a long-standing reminder of what we can achieve when we work together. "

The trees were selected by members of the public in an online poll, which received more than 170 votes from a shortlist provided by Warwickshire Forestry.
