Warwick artist wins award for 'most popular' work at council's event aimed at galvanising the district's creative business community

Warwick woman Sue Southorn has won the award for the most popular artwork at an event organised to showcase the talent of artists across the Warwick district.

The Spark conference aimed to turn talk into action and galvanise the area’s creative business community around a common purpose of recovery, promotion and growth of the sector.

Sue, a landscape and abstract artist based in Warwick, was the winner of most popular artwork with Back to blue with a hint of pink.

The work was gifted to photographer Will Phillips, who was the most active conference participant.

David Guilding, Arts Manager at Warwick District Council said: “The Spark creative conference has helped continue the hard work that was started last year by the Arts Team to galvanise and bring together our creative community during the past year.

"This virtual art gallery showed some creative talent that Warwick District has to offer, and I would like to congratulate Sue Southorn on winning the popular artwork at the conference.”

This year’s conference was centered around five core themes: voice, placemaking, pathfinding, engagement and innovation.

More than 540 people attended the online event and all 37 hours of content is available on the Spark YouTube channel.
