Leamington-based Presto Music’s new web player paves the way for classical and jazz streaming platform

Leamington-based classical and jazz music ecommerce website Presto Music has launched a new feature offering its 100,000-plus strong customer base new ways to explore and listen to their CD and download collections.

Rob Ferrer, chief technical officer of Presto Music, said: “Our business experienced its best year ever in 2020, with CDs up by 18 per cent and downloads up by an astonishing 48%, which means that there is clearly a demand for jazz and classical music.

"There is a beautiful, escapist quality to these musical genres but they’re not as conspicuously featured on the more prominent streaming platforms.

Presto’s own platform will provide our customers with a more bespoke listening experience, one that is shaped by their personal taste and buying choices when it comes to jazz and classical music.”

Using any standard web browser Presto Music’s customers will find a my library link within the ‘My account’ section of the e-commerce website, displaying every item they have ever purchased from Presto online, ranging from CDs to downloads.

This new feature enables customers to go straight from checkout to my library and start listening to the music they’ve bought within seconds.

The built-in web-player means customers can continue to browse the rest of the website while the music plays.

The quality of the stream matches that of what was purchased, and is able to reach a high-resolution audio of 24bit 192 kHz. The end result is able to create the immersive feeling of attending a live musical performance.
