Members of the Kenilworth & Warwick Trefoil Guild knitted the blankets during the last lockdown and donated them to SCBU last week

Former girlguides and guide leaders from Kenilworth and Warwick used their time at home during lockdown to knit blankets which they have donated to a much-loved unit at Warwick Hospital last week.

Members of the Kenilworth & Warwick Trefoil Guild made the donation of the 21 blankets to the special care baby unit (SCBU) at the hospital.

The blankets were knitted over several months as part of a Trefoil Guild Challenge which members could undertake in their own homes while they were unable to meet in person.

In total, 756 small squares were knitted and then they were joined together in '36’s' to make the 21 blankets.

Janet Turner, chairwoman of the guild, said: “We were so pleased to be able to help the SCBU in this way and it gave our members a really worthwhile challenge to focus on.

"In fact, the unit has already asked us to start making some tiny baby hats as they always need these.”
