New lights for historic Warwick building

Warwick mayor Christine Cross and members of Court Leet joined Heidi Meyer, the master of the Lord Leycester Hospital for the switch-on of the new floodlights, which were funded by the Court Leet.

Warwick Court Leet provided a grant for the floodlights at Lord Leycester Hospital to be modernised and turned on once again to light the historic building.

The old sodium floodlights at the hospital had not been used for more than 10 years because of the expensive running costs.

Some patrons of the hospital applied to the Court Leet for a grant to help with this problem.

Heidi Meyer, master of the Lord Leycester Hospital, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Warwick Court Leet for funding the replacement lights that now enable this magnificent building to be seen in all its glory at night.”

Funds raised at the annual Warwick Court Leet Beer and Cider Festival were used to pay for the new floodlights.

This year’s Beer and Cider Festival will be held at Warwick Race Course on Friday July 21 and Saturday July 22.
