The donation of just over £1,500 from the voluntary group allowed the clinic to purchase a set of steps and a pair of parallel bars for patients undergoing physiotherapy.

The equipment was officially unveiled today (Friday March 24) at the clinic in Smalley Place.

Physiotherapist Debbie Taylor thought the new equipment was a great addition to the clinic and would help many patients in Kenilworth.

She said: “It’s really important for patients that have had knee replacements and hip replacements.

“We’re very grateful for the donation, which has given us equipment we might not have had otherwise.”

One patient who has recently tried the new equipment is 64-year-old Margarita Hart of Margetts Close, who has been having physiotherapy at the clinic following a knee operation last October.

She lives in a bungalow, so she does not have much opportunity to test out her knee on stairs.

Margarita said: “For me, the stairs have been very good. They help me practise my walking.

“I think it’s great that Round Table made this donation.”

And Debbie added: “The equipment is improving Margarita’s walking, her balance, and her confidence. She’s very happy with it.”

The clinic applied to Round Table last summer for possible funding for new equipment. The group accepted their application in November, and the order was made for the equipment in December.

Community service officer for Round Table Ian Grigg said: “It’s a great thing for us to support because it helps a lot of people in Kenilworth.

“It’s the first time for some time we’ve donated to Kenilworth Clinic, and the equipment looks great.”
