Retirement village operator Audley Retirement has agreed to purchase the site of the former residential care home Homewood.

The site is adjacent to the existing village of Audley Binswood at the Grade II listed Binswood Hall and will be converted into additional accommodation for the over 55s subject to planning permission.

The site had an asking price of £2 million.

The development of the Homewood site will add a further 26 properties and restore two cottages.

This will provide access to Binswood’s club with its swimming pool, gym, restaurant, bar and bistro and provide additional facilities for those living at Binswood.

Audley is now in the process of consultation to develop a planning permission application for Homewood.

Nick Sanderson, CEO of Audley, said: “It continues to be a real joy to work closely with the community in Leamington to bring well known landmarks such as Binswood Hall and the Homewood site back to their former glory.

“Our agreement to buy the Homewood site marks a new milestone for Audley.

“The growth and continued popularity of sites such as Binswood is a reflection of the surge in demand for high quality retirement living with care provision.

“Our exemplary record in securing planning permission comes from our commitment to working closely with the local community and stakeholders, and we intend to continue with this approach.”
