But organisers have declared that the whole month will be a time to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) life and culture.

Beginning with a free pre-Pride party at the Grist Mill in Leamington on Friday, the run up to the big day will also feature LGBT workshops and film making with young people from the National Citizen Service and a promo day on Leamington’s Parade on Saturday August 13.

It will all culminate with the royal-themed festival, where thousands of people are due to join in with the celebration.

This year’s festival will feature stalls, performances from local acts alongside Jordan Gray and Vangelis from BBC’s The Voice and a dog show in partnership with the Dogs Trust.

Once the sun sets on the festival, the celebrations will continue at the Pump Room where partygoers will walk the red carpet and be entertained by a number of famous guests.

Daniel Browne, chairman of Push Projects LGBTQ Youth Support, the charity behind Warwickshire Pride, said: “Warwickshire Pride is a fantastic, positive celebration of LGBT culture and diversity. This year is our most ambitious, fabulous lineup of events that ends with the Pride festival and after party.

The support from the local community is incredibly heartwarming.

“When the first Warwickshire Pride was organised, a lot of people said that Leamington would never accept an LGBT event. Four years in, the festival continues to grow and is increasingly popular. It shows what an open minded town Leamington actually is and what a fantastic community we have locally.”
