Leek Wootton has celebrated the opening of a new £53,000 play area in time for the school summer holidays.

Cutting the ribbon to open the new area off Quarry Close, Cllr Jose Compton said after two years of waiting, they are delighted to finally have equipment in place for families.

Cllr Richard Coates from of the team responsible for the project said it was another step forward after a long fight.

“The old playground was looking a little tired and unloved and with new facilities appearing in Kenilworth and Warwick, we felt it was time Leek Wootton had a play area to be proud of too,” he said.

Funding for the new play are came from a partnership of WREN (Landfill Trust), Warwick District Council, the Leigh Educational Foundation and Leek Wootton Parish Council.
