Kenilworth Tennis Club has finished the resurfacing of five of its courts following a £30,000 grant awarded to the club by Warwick District Council.
The club’s two show tennis courts have been replaced with an all-weather artificial grass surface which can be used all year round, two hard courts have been cleaned and re-painted and the junior hard court has also been refurbished.
Tennis secretary Louise Best said: “We’re delighted and very proud of our new courts that ensure we continue to offer our members top class playing surfaces.
“The club appreciates the investment from Warwick District Council to offer residents in Kenilworth and the surrounding area these excellent tennis facilities.
“Not only do members benefit, but we are able to offer schools in the area access to coaching and also non-members the opportunity to come and try out the sport.”
In a previous interview, head coach James Roe explained why the courts needed resurfacing. He said: “The courts were coming to the end of their life. They could become slippery when wet, which is dangerous.”
