Alice Rollason, who attends St John’s Primary School, was one of hundreds of Kenilworth schoolchildren who designed posters showing what having a rail station in the town could mean for Kenilworth, its residents and visitors to the town.

She said: “I wasn’t expecting it but I’m really pleased. I can’t wait for the station to open.”

The competition’s runners up will also have their designs featured in a special display along the hoardings at the station.

Cllr Peter Butlin, portfolio holder for transport and planning at Warwickshire County Council said: “This competition has shown us that the young people of Kenilworth are every bit as excited about the prospect of the new station as we are. We’re all looking forward to seeing the young people’s designs when the station is completed.”

The station is expected to open in December.
