Pupils at Park Hill Junior School raised money to send cows to Africa as part of this year’s Harvest Festival by participating in a fun run.

They were sponsored by friends and family to run as many laps as they could around the school’s field.

Despite having a target of £650, enough to send a single dairy cow to Africa, the pupils managed to raise over £2,000, enough to send two dairy cows and four working cows to Africa.

Head of teaching and learning Lizzie Biggs said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the sponsors and also the enthusiasm of the children to get involved.”
