Jingle Balls to jingle visually impaired children all the way to sporting success

A Leamington charity is inviting people to donate towards enabling visually impaired (VI) children to take part in sport as part of its Christmas campaign.

The funds donated towards British Blind Sport’s seasonal appeal will go towards purchasing audible balls - or ‘jingle balls’ - for VI children across the country aged between four and 16, allowing them to have the same opportunities in sport as their sighted peers.

Fundraising manager Ian Carr said: “A jingle ball is a perfect way to introduce a VI child to sport.

“Having given a number of jingle balls away as part of our pioneering First Steps project (something we aim to continue in 2017), we know how life-changing they can be.

“We know that sport increases confidence, improves health, develops relationships and improves communication.

“So, all we’re asking is for people to donate as much as they can to the campaign and give the gift of sport to a visually impaired child this Christmas.”

British Blind Sport, which is run from an office in Tachbrook Park in Leamington, aims to help blind and partially sighted people to play sport and get active, through organising sports competitions, supporting VI people within the sports profession, supporting the education of school teachers about visual impairment and providing advice to sports clubs and coaches.
