Jamie Hillage died in April aged 36 after a short battle with cancer in what has left his fiancee Siobhan and two children - Jacob, aged seven, and Rosie, aged three - “completely devastated”.

Described as an amazing friend, dad and partner, he has already proved an inspiration to the Wolf Run team who ran in his memory - and his son who will now complete his own charity challenges.

Siobhan Thompson said she has been completely overwhelmed by the support in the past two months, and by how many friends have come out to show support.

A team of over 30 friends took to the running tracks with a Wolf Run in aid of Cancer Research UK this month - and it is only the start.

After raising over £2,000 for the cause during the 10k run at Stanford Hall this month, Siobhan said: “I decided to do the run and it just escalated with people joining in.

“I haven’t done one before but it is something me and Jamie always talked about so it was a very emotional day.

“Jamie would have loved to have taken part.

“The whole day was tinged with sadness, but to see how many great friends he had and how many people care for him is just overwhelming and incredible. Jamie was very popular, the sort of man who people loved to be around.

“It has been such an emotional year. We were all left completely devastated by this, but the support I have had is incredible and I cannot thank people enough.

“Jamie was an amazing dad and hopefully Jacob and Rosie will grow up seeing how loved he was by so many people.”

Sports fanatic Jamie was diagnosed with incurable cancer in January, and died just months later.

His memory will live on through regular fundraisers now being set up in honour of a great dad and friend, and to help other families in need.

Siobhan has planned another run in September, and Jacob will complete a youth Ironman triathlon this summer in memory of his hero.

“Everything we raise will go that bit further to helping another family one day,” she said.

“Jacob is completely devastated, him and his dad did so much together. Jamie was so into his fitness and sports and encouraged Jacob to try things with him and experience everything.

“They spent so much time together and the Ironman will be a really great thing to do in memory of his dad.”
