Tails are wagging at Dogs Trust after the town rehoming centre won a public vote to be named as the Sainsbury’s charity of the year award.
Staff at the Honiley rehoming centre and kennels said they were “delighted” to be crowned in the supermarket’s annual award.
The centre was chosen in recognition of the excellent care provided to rescue dogs awaiting new homes.
Jane Hirons from Dogs Trust Kenilworth said: “All of us are delighted. All of us care so passionately about the dogs in our care so it’s wonderful to be recognised and supported.”
The team was chosen from 13,000 nominations and were shortlisted after presenting the work of their charity to staff at the Dorridge store.
Staff there will now fundraise for 12 months to help the stray and abandoned dogs.
