Cyclist taken to hospital after ‘road rage’ attack

A cyclist was rushed to hospital on Good Friday after being alledgedly attacked following a collision with a car in south Leamington.

Clarence Street was cordoned off on Friday morning as police investigated an incident between a car passenger and a cyclist just after 10.40am.

An argument started after a white Seat Ibiza and a bicycle were involved in a collision in the residential street.

The passenger of the car then alledgedly got out of the vehicle and assaulted the cyclist in the road.

The man, in his 40s, suffered head injuries in the attack and was taken to University Hospital Coventry for treatment.

a police spokesperson said the 32-year-old passenger, who lives in Warwick, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is currently in police custody.
