A middle lane hogger driving between Kenilworth and Warwick refused to move into the left hand lane for several miles - even after police put on their blue lights and told him to do so.

And to top it all off, it turned out the driver did not have a driving licence and had never taken a driving test.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: "Our attention was drawn to a VW Golf travelling on the A46 southbound near Kenilworth.

"The driver constantly drove in the middle lane of three despite the left lane being clear for several miles. We tried a quick flash of the blue lights to give the driver a hint but he ignored us and continued in lane two failing to move into the clear left lane.

"We stopped the vehicle at the BP Services A46 southbound near Warwick. It soon became clear why the driver didn't understand the Highway Code. The driver had no driving licence and had never taken or passed a driving test. The driver also had no insurance covering him to drive the vehicle."
