An alleged shoplifter reportedly spat and punched two people who tried to stop him after he stole alcohol from a shop in Warwick.
A 23-year-old man from Warwick has been arrested on suspicion of theft and assault and remains in custody.
The incident happened last night (Tuesday) in Chase Meadow.
Update: The man has been charged with theft and assault and will appear at Coventry Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday).
