Adam Bennett, who has been a chef for the last 25 years, was presented with a certificate for being a finalist in the national Parliamentary Pub Chef of the Year competition by Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright on Thursday April 7.

MPs across the country can nominate chefs in their constituencies, and Mr Wright nominated Adam for the hard work he has put in since starting at The Cross in 2013.

Adam said: “It’s great to be recognised. Cooking in a pub is a new field for me - fine dining was the backbone of my career and to apply those skills to a more casual setting is very refreshing.

“There’s no secret - it’s just about enjoying what we’re doing and making it fun for the customer.”

Mr Wright said: “These awards are for pub chefs but The Cross is so much more than a pub. I thought it was very important to nominate Adam for the award.

“This is a shining example of a pub-restaurant and we’re very lucky to have it in Kenilworth. The progress made since Adam has been here is immense.”
