Year 11 pupils Todd Gardenik, Ryan Brown and Liam Gibbs received awards this week from National Crimebeat - the youth crime prevention charity of the High Sheriff’s Association in England and Wales.

The pupils worked with the SAFE Youth Club based at the Westbury Centre and helped to rebuild a vandalised compost toilet in Foundry Wood, Warwick, last spring.

When it was then burned to the ground by vandals again in June last year the pupils removed the old frame and helped to prepare the ground for the new, now more fire resistant, version three.

Ryan said: “It was an enjoyable experience and I feel proud to have volunteered for this project.”

The National Crime Beat Awards exist to give recognition to the most innovative and successful crime prevention projects carried out by young people.

On Wednesday, Todd, Ryan and Liam travelled to the charity’s annual award ceremony, worthy of the dignity of the ancient royal office.

They were also given lunch and a tour of London on an open top Big Bus and a trip on the London Eye.

The school has said: “Congratulations to Todd, Ryan and Liam and we hope they keep up all their hard work.”
