Warwickshire County Council’s Bikeability training enables children to be safer and more independent whilst travelling by bike on or off road.

Level 1 is playground-based and for cyclists aged seven to nine and is taking place at Warwick Racecourse on Monday July 25 and August 15 between 9am and 11.30am. Places for the one-day course cost £10 per cyclist.

Level 2 is a two-day on-road based course with assessment, for cyclists aged nine and over, taking place at Warwick Racecourse on Monday July 25 between 12.30pm and 4pm and Tuesday July 26 between 9am and 1pm and again on Monday August 15 between 12.30pm and 4pm and Tuesday August 16 between 9am and 1pm. Places cost £20 per cyclist.

Level 3 is an advanced, one-day, course for competent cyclists aged 11 and over who are ready to take on more challenging road situations and/or have completed Bikeability Level 2 (proof required). This training takes place at Newbold Comyn in Leamington on Wednesday August 17 between 9am and 1pm. Places cost £22 per cyclist.

A certificate and badge will be awarded to all those who successfully complete their course, at all three levels.

Councillor Peter Butlin, responsible for policy on transport, said “If you have been inspired by the recent Aviva Women’s cycling tour which visited the county, now is a great time to learn skills to keep safe and enjoy all the benefits of cycling. Once children have been involved in Bikeability, they are far more likely to become regular and confident cyclists.”
