The charity’s annual Walk for Myton, which will take place on Sunday May 15 and start and end at the Warwick hospice, is suitable for all fitness levels and ages.

There will be options of three, six or 12 miles - and dogs will be welcome to join in, with water bowls provided along the route to keep them hydrated.

Anyone who would like to do something to remember a loved one who has died is invited to take part, but people who would just like to support the charity are welcome too.

Registration is free but participants will be asked to raise as much as they can for Myton’s three hospices in Warwick, Rugby and Coventry.

T-shirts will be available to purchase before the event and can be personalised on request.

On return to the Warwick hospice in Myton Lane, walkers will be invited to stay for entertainment, with a barbecue, bouncy castle, children’s games and live music by local musicians.

Myton’s events coordinator Lucy Turner said: “We can’t wait for this year’s Walk for Myton. It’s such a lovely way for people to support Myton or to remember a loved one whilst raising money to help ensure we can continue to provide care and support in the local area.

“We really enjoyed last year’s event and we are hoping this year will be even more successful.”

Last year the event raised £31,000 - enough to help run the charity’s Myton at Home service in Warwick and Leamington for just over three months. Organisers hope that this year’s Walk for Myton will raise £35,000, which would be enough to fund a Myton nurse for one year.

The Myton Hospices care for adults in Warwickshire and Coventry who have a terminal illness. All services - including patient care in people’s own homes - are provided free of charge, so the charity needs to raise more than £8 million each year.

Anyone wishing to sign up for this year’s Walk for Myton or find out more about the charity can call 01926 358382 or visit www.mytonhospice.org/event/the-myton-hospices-walk-for-myton
