Theatrical friends have been praised for their talents on the stage after making it through to the quarter finals of a national competition.

Armistice Theatre, a group of friends from Kenilworth and Coventry, made it to the late stages of the All England Theatre Festival after impressing with their performance of Michael Lynch’s one act play, Hero.

The drama is set in a dressing station on the Western Front during the First World War and shows the relationship between nurses and young private Ralph Underwood.

Member Rebecca Gardner Tildesley won best female actress for her part in the play, with fellow star, Laura Jackson nominated for the same award, and Alec Brown nominated as best male.

The team was presented with the BFAME shield by the mayor of Solihul.
