Californian choir come to sing in Kenilworth

An acclaimed choir from the USA have chosen St Nicholas church in Kenilworth for their only performance in the Midlands.

Stanford Chamber Chorale will perform a recital of masterpieces from the Anglican, European and American choral traditions, including works by Pearsall, Vaughan Williams, Walton and Duruflé, interspersed with organ solos by virtuosic performer Robert Huw Morgan. The concert takes place on Saturday June 25 at 7pm.

The Stanford Chamber Chorale comprises 24 students from Stanford University in California. Hailing from across the United States and around the world, the singers represent a broad diversity of academic disciplines and degree programs.

They will sing under the direction of Stephen M Sano, professor and chair of the Department of Music at Stanford University. He holds masters and doctoral degrees in orchestral and choral conducting.

Robert Huw Morgan is the University Organist at Stanford. He has toured throughout Europe, the USA and Australia and has recorded performances for BBC television and radio, and for television and radio stations across the USA, Australia and Canada.

There is no entrance fee although donations are invited to support the upkeep and running of the church.
